CANANDAIGUA- Antonio 'Sungo' Navarro, 74, passed away on Sat. (Jan 28, 2023), at Clifton Springs Hospital. In honoring his wishes, the services will be private. Antonio was born on March 4 1948, in Puerto Rico and was the son of the late Elena 'Helen' and Rafael Navarro. He was known in the community by 'Sungo' or 'Tony'. Sungo was a war hero who served his country proudly and fought in the Vietnam War as a front liner. He came back with many medals of Honor, including the Purple Heart. Sungo was a proud United States Marine. He loved archery, hunting and fishing and was great at it. Sungo was a survivalist and enjoyed the outdoors and being in the woods. He also enjoyed his cats, trucks and motorcycles. Sungo spent over 20 years working for Reale Fence Company, until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Leesa Navarro; daughter, Helen (Chris Tyler) Navarro; sons, Henio Navarro, Joseph Navarro, Vincent Navarro and Ralph Navarro; sisters, Geisha (Santos) Merced, Iris (Jose) Navarro and Carmen (Manuel) Navarro; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and a host of family members and friends.
