STANLEY- Dorothy L. Sobus, 84, passed away peacefully on Tues. (June 27, 2023), at home. Callings hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sun. (July 2), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Mon. (July 3), at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, in Geneva. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

Dorothy was born on Feb. 24, 1939 in Geneva and was a daughter of the late Frederick and Mabel (Hilliker) Dermott. She worked at Z-Axis in Phelps. Dorothy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Palmyra.
She is survived by her children, Yolanda (Cosmo) Iannopollo of Geneva, Mabel (Stephen) Ninestine of VA, Joseph Sobus of Stanley, James (Tammy) Sobus of KY, Jeffery (Kelly) Sobus of Waterloo and Lorraine (John) Knifley of Geneva; brother-in-law, Michael Scala of Geneva; grandchildren, Cosmo (Natasha) Iannopollo, Andrea (Walt) Bennett, Emma (Paul) Jones, Ashley (Joe) Insogna, Jessica Sobus, Patrick Sobus, Olivia Sobus, Grace Sobus, Hannah Knifley and Blake Knifley; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, John Sobus, Jr.; son, John Sobus III; granddaughter, Christine Ninestine; brother, Fred Dermott; sisters, Ethel Scala and Janet Sneddon.
