Mary Easter Sapp
GENEVA- Mary Easter Sapp, 92, passed into the Arms of her Lord and Savior on Sun. (Jan. 21, 2024), at home, with her family by her side. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Sat. (Feb. 3), at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 70 Clark St. Geneva. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., in the church. Burial will be Monday, Feb. 5, at 9 AM in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mary Easter Ealey was born on June 26, 1931 to the late John Jackson and Hick Mae Ealey in Notasulga, Alabama. On January 21, 2024, Mary Easter was called home to be with the Lord.
In 1947, Mary Easter Ealey married Phillip Sapp, Sr. in Tuskegee, Alabama and they started their journey in life together. In 1957, they relocated to Geneva, New York and raised their family with 57 years of marriage until the Lord called her husband, Phillip, home.
Mary Easter worked at Seneca Foods, Finger Lakes Laundry and volunteered in the community for many years. She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, singing in the choir until her health prevented her from attending church. She was dedicated and continued to pay her monthly tithes.
She lived a very happy spoiled life. In her younger days, she enjoyed cooking and baking her coconut cakes and sweet potato pies. She also enjoyed going fishing. Mary was a true comedian and was the life of the party. When you gathered with her at her home, she loved cracking jokes and doing her belly roll dance—and boy, oh boy, did she. Mary loved having company, watching TV and listening to music. She also looked forward to receiving her daily morning phone call from her oldest son, Jr. so they could do their daily gossiping about nothing everyday.
