Dorothy J. Rugar GENEVA-Dorothy J. Rugar, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday (January 19, 2025) at Geneva Living Center North. Friends may call from 1pm to 4pm Saturday (January 25) at Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC, 28 Genesee Street, Geneva. A Funeral Service will follow at 4pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Humane Society in Dorothy's memory. Dorothy was born on February 6,1931 in Auburn, NY and was a daughter of the late Ralph and Bessie (Drake) Houghton. She worked at Sylvania for many years and retired from the college Book Store at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Dorothy was a lifelong member of The Presbyterian Church in Geneva, and The American Legion Auxiliary, Post 396. She enjoyed painting ceramics and was an avid card player. She enjoyed playing games with her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Donald (Deborah) Sherman of Texas, daughters, Carol (Arthur) Meiggs of Ohio, Debra (Steve) Rugar Beeman and Allison (Patrick) Martin of Geneva; sister, Janet Somerville of Auburn, NY; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her husbands, Parl Sherman and Thomas Rugar; brother, Donald Houghton; sister, Alice O’Grady.
