Marcia J. Quartaro
GENEVA- Marcia J. Quartaro, 75, passed away peacefully on Sun. (Jan. 19, 2014), at Geneva General Hospital, with her loving family by her side. In honoring her wishes, there will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thurs. (Jan. 23), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC 28 Genesee St. Geneva. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Marcia was born on April 28, 1938 in Geneva, NY and was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Thalia (Decker) Balistreri. She attended the Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing and went on to receive her external RN Degree from the State of New York. Marcia took Echo Cardiogram classes in Syracuse and Rochester and used her wisdom to teach others. She served as mentor to many nurses. Marcia was a hard worker, employed as a supervisor RN at Geneva General Hospital for over 30 years. She enjoyed roller skating competatively, with her husband Thomas. For 14 years, the two competed all over the east coast and Canada. Marcia was a member of the G.A.I.L. Lodge.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Quartaro of Geneva; sons, Jeffrey (Terri) Quartaro of Geneva; Michael (Laurie Brassie) Quartaro of Rochester and David Quartaro of Potter; daughters, Stephanie (Patrick) Thorpe of Bloomfield and Lisa (Jim) Scutt of Geneva; brothers, Lawrence Thomas Balistreri of San Antonio, TX and Leo James Balistreri of Bath; sister, Shirley Augustine of Geneva; grandchildren, Nicholas Wenz, Nikki (Adam) Folts and Kyle Quartaro, Andy (Heather), Katy and Christopher Quartaro, Michael (Meghan McLane), Chelsea (Jonathan Millis), and Krista Scutt and Candice Quartaro and Rachael Sergent; great-grandchildren, Mckenzie Scutt, Peyton Sergent, Addison Quartaro and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mensah, the Geneva General I.C.U. staff and the Geneva Living Center North staff for all of their special care, and a very special acknowledgement to Bianca Quartaro, Emily Winnek and Linnea Shuster for their support and compassion during this past weekend.
