Obituary of Donald Anthony Guerrieri

Geneva- Donald A. "Donny" Guerrieri, Jr. (40 years old) passed away Friday, October 3, 2014 at Geneva General Hospital surrounded by family and friends. In honoring his wishes, there will no public calling hours or services. Donations in lieu of flower should be made to either of the following organizations: 1.) Make a Wish Foundation; 4742 North 24th Street-Suite 400; Phoenix, AZ 85016 or 2.) Geneva Boys and Girls Club; 160 Carter Road; Geneva, NY 14456. He was born June 25, 1974 in Geneva, son of Donald and Julia (Simon) Guerrieri. Growing up Donny was known to be a daredevil and would often seek out adventures that would end in trips to the Emergency Room. He attended Geneva High School, graduating in 1993 despite a concurrent and debilitating battle with Leukemia. Donny became a cancer survivor and though he never complained, he continued to manage chronic pain for the rest of his life as a result. Early on, Donny was an accomplished Pilot spending any available time at the Penn Yan Flying Club with his father. At age 14, Donny completed his FAA required "Solo Pilot" endorsement, which is the earliest age this endorsement could be achieved. He further studied and refined his skills logging the required air emergency flights, and unusual flight conditions for his "Private Pilot License" at the age of 16. This was also the youngest age an FAA Pilots License can be obtained. Donny then moved on and enlisted in the Civil Air Patrol (United States Air force Auxiliary). Throughout his life Donny enjoyed understanding the mechanics of how things worked, often taking things apart to put them back together. This naturally led to his interest in technology and working in computer repair and Information Technology. While Geneva was always his home, his exploratory nature often to visit different parts of the United States and Italy. Donny's authentic kindness was ever present and allowed him to easily make new friends. Donny could always be counted on for help or support by friends or family, he will be missed. Donny is survived by his parents Donald and Julie of Geneva; his sister Michelle Guerrieri-Poysa and brother- in-law Kari; and nieces Lumi and Lucia residing in Penfield NY. He is also survived by his long time friend Bettyann Tucceri of Geneva and dog Sadie as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
