George J. Drooby
GENEVA - George J. Drooby, 68, passed away peacefully on Saturday (October 18, 2014) at home, with his loving daughter, Leeanne by his side. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday (October 21), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC, 28 Genesee St., Geneva. Trisagion prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. A funeral service of the Orthodox Church will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (October 22) at St. Michael's Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church in Geneva, with the V. Rev. Fr. Gregory Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
George was born on June 5, 1946, in Geneva and was a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Wheeler) Drooby. He owned and operated 'Drooby's Septic' and was in business for over 40 years. George was a hard worker and great provider for his family. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends, always taking them out to dinner and sharing a laugh. He was a huge baseball fan, supporting the best team ever, the New York Yankees. George was a musician, playing in the local bands, 'Mother Freedom' and 'The Roadrunners.' He also coached Geneva Little League softball for many years. George will be sadly missed and always remembered for being a humble, generous, easy-going and kind person.
He is survived by his daughter, Leeanne Drooby of Geneva; brother, David Drooby of Geneva; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen A. (Cosentino) Drooby; brother, Richard 'Ramp' Drooby; sister, Marjorie Jensen and favorite dog companion, Morgan.
