Obituary of Carmen Gloria Chavez

Carmen Gloria Chavez WATERLOO- Carmen Gloria Chavez, 66, passed away on Sat. (Dec. 13, 2014), at Rochester General Hospital, with her loving family by her side. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thurs. (Dec. 18), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC 28 Genesee St. Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Fri. (Dec. 19), at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Geneva. A spring burial will be held in the Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Carmen was born on March 27, 1948 in Coamo, PR, and was a daughter of the late Ignacio and Justina (Rolon) Mateo, Sr. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren. Carmen was known for her cooking and was a very nurturing woman who served as a mother to many. She was a devoted member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Geneva. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Miguel Chavez, Sr. of Waterloo; sons, Miguel Chavez, Jr. of Waterloo, James (Kelly) Chavez of Waterloo, Edward (Valdina) Chavez of Oxnard, CA and Alejandro (Jovita) Torres of McAllen, TX; daughters, Barbara Chavez Catholdi of Waterloo and Melissa (Donald) McGloon, Jr. of Waterloo; brothers, Tomas Mateo of Geneva, Ignacio Mateo, Jr. of Waterloo, Rafael (Alice) Mateo of Newark, Frank (Karen) Mateo of Newark and John Mateo, Sr. of Canandaigua; sisters, Olga Mateo of Geneva and Evelyn Munoz of Jacksonville, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. Carmen was predeceased by her parents, Ignacio and Justina (Rolon) Mateo; brothers, Ramon Mateo, Catalino Mateo, Sr. and Jose Mateo; sister, Ana Valentine.
