Obituary of Gary R. Jones

Gary R. Jones, Jr. GENEVA - Gary R. Jones, Jr., 45, passed away unexpectedly, Tues. morning (May 17, 2011). You will forever be held in the hearts of all of us who loved you. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Fri. (May 20), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, LLC, 28 Genesee St., Geneva. Per Gary Jr.'s request, there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held immediately following calling hours at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to his daughter's college fund in c/o, Tandee Jones, 2865 Johnson Rd. Geneva, NY 14456. He resided at Johnson Rd. Geneva, NY, born to Tandee Certo Jones and Gary R. Jones, Sr. on Aug. 17, 1965. After completing Midlakes High School, he held various positions until he found his niche in the Rent to Own business. Gary Jr. retired from Aaron's Rent to Own and had been assistant manager at Rent-A-Center, before injuring his back. He was a self taught computer repairman. Following two unsuccessful back surgeries, Gary became totally disabled. He was so looking forward to the birth of his first grandson in June, and longed to be able to teach him those things of which he excelled; baseball, football, art, racing and love of music and singing and video games. At the age of 17, he was scouted for the Pittsburgh Pirates. A knee injury caused him to lose out on his dream of playing Major League Baseball, but did play local softball. It is believed he still holds the Geneva Little League title of the only person to hit three homers in one game. He went off to play Babe Ruth Baseball in Geneva even though he moved to Seneca Castle, as a loop-hole allowed him to still play in Geneva. Gary is survived by his parents; wife, Deborah Erb Jones; two daughters, Erica Paige (Harry Hernandez) and Alison Lynn Jones; brother, Brandon J. (Brenda Steiner) Jones Sr. ; nephews, Brandon J. (Amber McCann) Jones, Jr., Nicholas Hunter Jones and Logan Spencer Jones, all of Geneva; his in-laws, Cherry and Leon Erb, brothers-in-law, Cliff Erb and Jeffrey Erb; sisters-in-law, Donna Erb (Cyrus) Hicks, Joanne Erb (Gary) Gordner, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his Maternal Grandparents, Joseph and Loveen Brunson Certo, Paternal Grandparents, Robert and Eva Mae Jones, several cousins, aunts and uncles.
