Mary Georgina Venuti Emmi Mary Georgina Venuti Emmi, 88, of Geneva, New York, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2012 with her family by her side. Mary was born in Geneva on November 2, 1924, to Francis Venuti and Marina Vaianisi. She was one of six children born to the couple and she forever cherished her brothers and sisters: Sam, Joe, Francis, Antoinette and Josephine. In her youth, she was a member of Saint Francis DeSales Catholic Church, where she also attended school. The church served as a cornerstone of Mary's life; having lived directly across from it since the time she was born. She treasured the friendships she forged on State Street and the lifelong extended family that resulted from years spent together. Mary was a friend to all who came across her path, through her home or sat perched at her kitchen table. Her kindness to others was as genuine as her tender soul. Mary met her future husband, Dominic Joseph Emmi, of Auburn, New York in 1947 at a dance, which was held at Club 86. On May 3, 1952 the two married and they were fortunate to have over 59 years of marriage together. Together they successfully raised four children: Fred, Marina, Michelle and Joe and eventually delighted in the joy their two grandchildren brought to their lives. Mary possessed the essential qualities of decency and compassion and lived her life ensuring that others needs were always placed before her own. She was kind and caring and faithful in all facets of her life. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, taking pleasure in the simplest events of daily life particularly if they were shared with her family. She adored her nieces and nephews and cherished the time spent with them. Mary leaves behind her beloved husband, Dominic Emmi and her devoted children: Alfred Emmi, Marina Emmi, Michelle Emmi and Joe Emmi (Tricia). Her grandchildren, Dominic and Meaghan will miss their Nana. Surviving family members also include her beloved brother Francis Venuti and sister, Josephine Caito, cherished sisters-in-law, Viola Venuti, Donna Venuti, Theresa Emmi and Margaret Emmi and brother-in-law, Francis Emmi (Diane). Mary leaves behind many treasured nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Marina Venuti; her brothers Sam Venuti and Joe Venuti and her sister, Antoinette Venuti. She is also preceded in death by brothers-in-law Patrick Caito, Anthony Emmi and sisters-in-law Rose Venuti and Josephine DelFavero. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Geneva Living Center North and Ontario-Yates Hospice for their care and sensitivity in Mary's final days. They would also like to thank the numerous family and friends that provided bountiful and endless supplies of food over the past month. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24th at Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, 28 Genesee Street, Geneva, New York 14456 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, February 25th at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Francis DeSales Catholic Church, 130 Exchange Street, Geneva. Entombment at Saint Mary's Mausoleum will be held immediately following service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions made to the DeSales High School.
