Marilynn Sue "Sue" Butler-Mearns
GENEVA/AUBURN - Marilynn Sue Butler-Mearns, 74, climbed the stairway to Heaven to be with her son Gary, after losing her battle with Lung Cancer at Geneva General Hospital on Thursday (Mar 8, 2012). A Funeral Service celebrating her life will be at 10:00 AM Friday (March 16) at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 149 Genesee Street, Geneva. Her burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Oaks Corners, NY.

Sue was born July 13, 1937, and was a daughter of the late Irving Francis and the late Clementine (Hodder) Butler, a graduated from Auburn High School and Marion S. Whelan School of Nursing in Geneva. She worked at Auburn Memorial Hospital, Geneva General Hospital, and retired from Willard Psychiatric Center as a nurse. Sue was a C.C.D. (Religion Education Instructor) at St. Francis de Sales Church, Geneva and a Girl Scout Leader. She liked to spend time socializing with friends and was a very devoted loving Mother to her children and other family members. Sue loved to travel, camp, and watch Nancy play in the Auburn Civic Band, go to concerts and spend time with her daughter, Becky, and grandchildren, Colby and Connor, enjoying ice cream. She was an avid T.V. watcher of Nancy Grace, Dancing with the Stars, Grey's Anatomy, The Bachelor and American Idol.
She was survived by her loving devoted , caring daughter, Rebecca Mearns of Geneva; Step-daughters Nancy Mearns of Auburn and Pamela Meszko of Cicero; step-son Arthur (Victoria) Mearns, Jr. of Knoxville, Tennessee; sister Sandra (John) Butler-Zamniak of Auburn; grandchildren Colby and Connor Mearns of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews.
Sue was predeceased by her son Gary Francis Mearns; brothers Ronald Irving Butler and Donald William Butler.
A special thank you to all the Nurses and Doctors in the ER, I.C.U. and 2 West at Geneva General Hospital, the Varick Fire Rescue (Mickey Persing), Trooper Braun, North Seneca Ambulance, and Dr. Phil Wirth at Finger Lakes Hearing Center.
Sue will be missed by many and not a day will go by that she won't be forgotten, especially by her daughter, Becky.
