I will always remember great times with Gary during our years in Troop 1, his ever present smile, humor and love of Scouting!
Brother Randy and I also shared a summer on Camp Babcock-Hovey's Staff, two Troop 1-ers sharing a tent in the staff area.
My sincere condolences to Michael, Carol, Randy, Dan, Jeanne and Julie.
This is a sad return to the Genesee St. home of his youth, and a loss to all who knew Gary.
May he soar with the Eagles.

Gary, you will sorely missed. From our early days as kids, we competed at everything and became best friends. I especially cherished the late night pizza and beers after weekend dates and the lengthy conversations. You were always the fixit man who could figure out a way to repair or build anything. We bonded even more over cars and how you loved your Jaguars. The XK 120's, the MK 2's, and especially the XKE's.
You were always the one who would give money, tools, and time to friends and family members who needed it. Sometimes you got paid back and many times you didn't, but it never stopped you from helping whenever you could.
The last few years were difficult and something you didn't deserve but I know you are at peace now. Enjoy the hunting and fishing with Pops!

So sad and so sorry to learn of the untimely passing of Gary. What a perfect picture of him. I can clearly see him at our house, smiling his great infectious smile and filling the room with his unique giggle/laughter and wisdom.
He had a charm that endeared him to all who crossed his path. May it bring you comfort and joy to know that Gary's life will continue to be celebrated by so many.
Our family has many fond memories of the now even more treasured times we spent together with friends who became chosen family especially at Riverbend Farm for tree picking parties, etc. and breathtaking Seneca Lake..
What a party in Heaven it must have been as Gary was welcomed by his dad, Jim and Pops Hilberer, Jimmy and Frank Bergen. and so may others gone too soon as they tip a few, laugh, solve the problems of the world, and talk fishing and hunting stories all of course at the same time. RIP

Julie,
You are so right about you and Gary being alike. I remember him catching huge carp and stringing a line thru their gills and 'doodlebug' riding them in the lake. He loved to have fun especially with you.

Gary had a great sense of humor, and I was almost always gullible enough to believe it when my big brother was spinning a tall tale.
One of my earliest memories is having him ride into town from Rochester for Sunday dinner with the family, bringing a few friends in tow. They would make quite an entrance on their motorcycles! I remember him riding me around the backyard on his bike.
We are a lot alike. So much so, apparently, that our parents would sometimes accidentally address me as 'Gary.' I miss you, my brother.

Gary loved cars, and especially fixing up a number of jags over the years.
