Obituary of Amy Marie Russell

SENECA FALLS - Amy Marie Russell, 30, of Seneca Falls, New York passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at her home. A memorial service for Amy Marie Russell will be held on Saturday June 18th, at 2pm. An afternoon of sharing and caring in celebration of Amy's life will follow until 6pm. Please join us on Oak Island in Waterloo, NY. The event will be casual so please bring lawn chairs and/or blankets to relax and remember among Amy's family and friends. Light refreshments will be provided. Oak Island is at the end of Oak St. after the Waterloo Community Center (3 Oak St.). Amy was born in Buffalo, NY to Charles and Janet Russell on October 2, 1985. She graduated from Geneva High School in 2003 and went on to earn her B.S. in Health Sciences from SUNY Brockport. After several years of employment with Tops Markets, she decided to become a Certified Nursing Assistant with Finger Lakes Health. While working at the Living Center South as a CNA, she completed studies at the Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing and continued to work at the LCS as an LPN. Whatever the circumstances, Amy's heart of gold shined. She believed in the power of love, and everyone she encountered felt that love. Amy was recognized for her compassion and her innate ability to care for others. In her free time she could be found spending time with her treasured dog, Genny. You might have seen her walking around town bopping her head or even dancing to music, hula hooping at the lakeside or even in the front yard, and always ready with a smile or wave for anyone passing by. Amy was part of a variety of communities that are all better for having had her, and she will be missed so very much by all. Amy is survived by her parents Charles and Janet Russell of Geneva; sisters, Irene (Marc) Rodriguez of Geneva, Jennifer Russell of Webster, Heather Russell of Canandaigua, Rebecca (Michael) Cornish of Bath, and Bethany Russell of Penn Yan; nephews, Aiden, Griffin, Derrick, Devin, and Ethan; niece, Amelia; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends throughout the U.S. and around the world. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, William Reid and Iris Russell, and her maternal grandparents, Robert and Helen Gustafson.
