Fred was born in Easthampton, MA on November 28, 1924, the son of the late Walter and Lotie Mularski. He joined the U.S. Army in January 1944 and served as a Physical Therapy Technician until his honorable discharge in May of 1946. After the service Fred played minor league baseball in the Brooklyn (Los Angeles) Dodgers organization for the Quebec Alouettes and the Geneva Red Birds as a first baseman. It was while playing for the Red Birds that Fred met his lifelong sweetheart, Marie, who was selling tickets to the games. Their love of baseball continued throughout their 62 years of marriage. After his baseball career, Fred worked at the Geneva Hulse Company and then became a postal carrier for the US Postal Service in Geneva. He eventually became Post Master, serving until his retirement in the mid 1980's. Fred was one of the first coaches in Geneva's Little League in the early 1950's. He became an umpire and umpired many levels of organized baseball throughout the Finger Lakes area for many years.
Fred was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, the American Legion and the National Association of Letter Carriers. His family would like to thank the staff at Living Center North for the great care and compassion they gave Fred.
Fred is survived by his sister, Adele (Delia) Walaszek of Easthampton, MA; several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie, a sister Jean, and brothers John and Max.
