Dominic J. Emmi
Dominic J. "Donuts" Emmi, 89, of Geneva, New York, passed away peacefully, on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25th at Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, 28 Genesee St. Geneva, NY 14456 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. The Sons of Italy Lodge 2397 will meet at the funeral home for a traditional prayer at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 26, at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 130 Exchange Street, Geneva, NY. Entombment at St. Mary's Mausoleum will be held immediately following service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions made to Saint Francis & Saint Stephen School.
Dominic was born on July 16, 1927, in Auburn, NY to Alfred and Eugenia (Calarco) Emmi. In his youth, he was a standout football player. He loved the sport so much that he served as a referee for much of his adult life. He was proud to be inducted into the New York State Section V Hall of Fame for football and the Finger Lakes Football Hall of Fame. Dominic worked in the vending industry for most of his life, eventually owning and operating Geneva Vending. He also serviced the voting machines for the City of Geneva. Donuts was an avid fisherman and golfer. He was a member of the Geneva Rod and Gun Club, Seneca Lake Country Club, the Sons of Italy Lodge 2397 and the Finger Lakes Football Association, where he served as president for high school referees. Dominic also served on the school board at De Sales High School.
Dominic was a devoted husband to his wife Manna and they were fortunate to have spent over 59 years together before she passed away in 2012. His most cherished role in life was that as a father and grandfather.
Dominic is survived by his four children: Alfred Emmi, Marina Emmi, Michelle Emmi and Joseph Emmi (Tricia), and his grandchildren, Dominic and Meaghan. Surviving family members also include, brother, Francis Emmi (Diane), sister, Theresa Emmi, sister-in-law, Viola Venuti, brother-in-law, Francis "Chichi" (Donna) Venuti and several nieces and nephews.
Dominic is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Eugenia, stepmother, Palma Emmi, his wife of 59 years, Mary (Venuti) Emmi, brother, Anthony (Margaret) Emmi, sister, Josephine (Bruno) Del Favero, sisters-in-laws, Josephine (Patrick) Caito and Antoinette Venuti, brothers-in-law, Sam Venuti and Joe (Rose)Venuti.
