Obituary of Dorothy L. Corrigan

Dorothy L. Corrigan, 91, passed away peacefully on Fri. (Jan. 19, 2018), at the Huntington Living Center in Waterloo. Calling hours will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Mon. (Jan. 22), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC, 28 Genesee St. Geneva. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home. Dorothy was born on Sept. 15, 1926 in England and was the daughter of the late George and Lilian Croote, and the youngest of six siblings, three sisters and two brothers. She came to the United States as a war bride in 1946, aboard the Queen Mary. She settled in Schenectady, NY, with her husband Francis Corrigan and daughter, Jennifer (Schaub), where she worked for General Electric for many, many years. With her daughter Jennifer and her late husband Donald Schaub, Dorothy lived in many places in New York State, as well as St. Louis, MO., eventually naming Geneva as her hometown, where she had lived for the past 42 years. Dorothy was a loving mother to her daughter, grandchildren, great granddaughters, and great, great granddaughters. She enjoyed knitting—making many cherished blankets, hats and mittens, scarves, sweaters and toys over the years. She relished in a good book; her favorite author was Catherine Cookson. She was an avid traveler, who enjoyed traveling to her home country, England, as well as Australia, where she spent time with her sisters and their family. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Schaub of Geneva; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Charles) Enos, Brian (Michelle) Schaub and Kate (Matt) Mumford; 5 great-granddaughters; 2 great, great granddaughters. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Francis Corrigan; sisters, Irene Flegg, Joan Graham and Evelyn Ridley.
