Obituary of Richard V. Mason

Richard V. Mason GENEVA- Richard V. Mason, 79, passed away on Wed. (June 20), at home. Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Mon. (July 2), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC, 28 Genesee St. Geneva. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be directed to the Beverly Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St. Waterloo, NY 13165. Richard was born on April 6, 1939, in Jefferson City, MO and was a son of the late Curtis Randolph and Beulah Mae (Highfill) Mason. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Ohio University and his Doctorate from the University of Toronto. Richard was a professor of Sociology at Hobart and William Smith Colleges for over 30 years, retiring in 2013. He was a member of the United States Army Reserves. Richard was a lifelong gardener, sometime vintner and general patron of the inebriate arts. He is survived by his sons, Brendan V. (Sarah) Mason of Geneva and Mark R. Mason of Joplin, MO; grandpiggy, Wiggles. Richard was predeceased by his wife, Linda Marciano Mason in 2017; brothers, Val Mason and Robert Rowe; sister, Pat Rowe.
