Walter Smith, Jr.
GENEVA- Walter Smith, Jr., 70, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Sun. (Aug. 11, 2013) at Leo's Caring Center in Rochester, NY after a long illness. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Mon. (Aug. 19), at St. Paul's Full Gospel Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Walter was born on April 7, 1943 in Fitzgerald, GA and was the son of the late Beulah Pearl (Searcy) and Walter Smith, Sr. He retired from Seneca Lake State Park. Walter enjoyed watching trains, fishing and planting his garden.
Walter is survived by his wife Mary Smith of Geneva; daughters Angela (Dennis) Hurling and Jacqueline Johnson both of Geneva, NY; brothers and sisters Marvin (Emma) Smith, Toney (Ruthie) Smith, Carolyn Harris and Brenda (Edwin) Walker all of Fitzgerald, GA; 5 grandchildren Joshua, Denesia, Joselyn, Sean and Isaiah all of Geneva, NY; many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, Sammy Cody of Georgia, Richard Coffee of Georgia, Elyard (Ed) Smith of Geneva and Mishew Singletary of Geneva.
He is predeceased by his grandmother Stella Motley; granddaughter Amari Davis and brother Harold Smith.
