GENEVA- Elizabeth "Betty" Helmer, 98, passed peacefully and beautifully cared for at the Light Hill Comfort Care in Canandaigua on Sept. 29, 2022 with her family at her side.
Elizabeth was born in Waterville NY on 2/7/1924 to Catharine and Milton Harris. She grew up on a large dairy farm with her 2 beloved brothers Chuck and Ed.
She spent most of her years in Geneva NY married to Ray Helmer and raising her 3 children, Darrell, Darlene and Denise. She was known about town for her heavy foot and her energetic nature. She was a mainstay at the Seneca Yacht Club, or assisting her son operate Cooley's Tavern. To the end of her days she was a big reader, loved the hundreds of birds that came to her feeders, country music, George Strait in particular, and her cat , Cinnamon Sugar.
She will be greatly missed by her 2 loving daughters , Darlene and Denise, sons in law, Ron Cook and Tony Randazzo; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
